MHA - Ealing Live at Home

Living in our own home is one way in which we maintain our independence. Yet really “living” is also about friendship and support, about being involved in our community, about getting out and about and simply enjoying ourselves. Sometimes, though, that is easier said than done.

MHA - Ealing Live at Home is a partnership between Ealing Trinity Methodist Circuit, Methodist Homes (MHA) and the London Borough of Ealing. Together we are working towards promoting independence and well-being amongst older folk across the Borough of Ealing.

MHA - Ealing Live at Home provides social contact and support for older people in the Borough who wish to continue living at home without becoming isolated. The scheme enables people to live a more fulfilled life by offering opportunities for companionship, trusted support and advice when you need it.

This page gives details of our current activities. We’ll be adding more as time goes by.

Get Up and Go Strength & Balance Programme

As we get older the chances of having a fall increase. The Get Up and Go Strength and Balance Programme is for people over the age of 65 who have had falls or loss of balance, have a fear of falling or who just want to improve their strength and balance. The programme is designed to help reduce your chances of falling and to help you get back on your feet and regain confidence after a fall.

The Get Up and Go Strength and Balance Programme is a Public Health Programme and participants must be able to commit to attending the complete course which lasts 10 weeks. To find out more and to find out how to join the Programme, click here.

Seated Yoga

Yoga offers many benefits, from reduced stress to improved strength and flexibility. At first sight it can seem daunting (“Do I really have to bend that way!!”), but Seated Yoga has been designed to be gentle especially for those who aren’t so supple these days. At the same time it still incorporates the benefits of a more traditional class.

At the moment MHA-Ealing Live at Home is not providing seated yoga classes, but will be starting again soon with a class in the Northolt area.

Grow & Eat

Some gentle gardening along with the thought of eating what you have grown can be very satisfying as well as being a great way of getting a little exercise. We are currently preparing land at Greenford Methodist Church ready to start our 'Grow & Eat' project.

Volunteers

Volunteers are always welcome to come and help run our activities. If you’d like to offer some time to help with any of MHA - Ealing Live at Home’s activities, please contact the Live at Home Manager.
